We recently traveled to St. Croix - and wow was it beautiful!!!

Some KEY things you need:

REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN

  • I cannot emphasize enough how important this is. Not all sunscreen is reef safe, please look at individual ingredients to make sure it does not include things like oxybenzone or titanium dioxide. Some that claim they are "reef safe" still have ingredients that are not allowed in St. Croix, and could cause you to get fined. I recommend the Thinksport brand on amazon! It lasted a long time in the water and helps ensure that the reefs stay healthy.

Snorkeling Equipment

We love snorkeling, and instead of paying per day to rent in St. Croix we decided to bite the bullet and get our own set. My husband is blind as a bat in the water, so I was able to find prescription goggles on Amazon! We got our fins from amazon, they were compact and small enough to pack with us. The snorkeling in St. Croix was amazing, our favorite spots were Frederikstead Pier and Isaacs Bay.

Rental Car

The best way to experience the island was driving around - on left side of the road FYI! We booked with Centerline Car Rentals and had a great experience in a very new Jeep.

Dry Bag

While we didn't use it every day of our trip, having a dry bag was helpful when we were snorkeling in a secluded area and wanted to be sure no one could take our phones, car keys, etc.

Sandproof Beach Blanket

  • This was our first time traveling with one of these beach blankets, and it was a gamechanger! This particular one had more than enough space for both of us to relax on, and packed into a tiny bag. Sand did not stick to it and it did not feel hot to the touch in the sun. They even have a very large size one that can fit the whole family!
